Little Angel picture

My name is Amanda Adkins and I am the new preschool teacher for Little Angel Preschool! I have been teaching for almost 3 years and I love it! In my spare time I love to read, write, do arts and crafts, go on adventures with my family, walk my dogs, and just enjoy the great outdoors. I am also a published author and am currently writing the second novel in the three part series. I am so looking forward to meeting all my new students this fall!

Preschool Coordinator/Teacher: Leah Steinkraus

Leah Steinkraus is new to St. John’s and Little Angel Preschool. She is a recent graduate of the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Leah majored in Family Social Science and spent her last semester interning at Kiddie Kampus Preschool in Cottage Grove, MN. During her time at Kiddie Kampus she found a calling toward the education of children. She is hoping to integrate her Bachelor degree into her work and time at Little Angel Preschool.

Linnea Kment has been volunteering at St. John’s and Little Angel Preschool since the fall of 2004. Education has always been her passion. She was a Special Education Teacher with the Chisago Lakes School District from 1975-2004.

She lives with her husband and step son in Forest Lake, and attend St. John’s. They’ve been members of the church since 1985.

Linnea says, “This school gives students the chance to have a wonderful ratio between students and staff.” She likes the small class sizes and believes children benefit greatly from it.

Sharon Dontje-Yell (Grandma Sharon)

I was born and raised in a small country town in Iowa. Growing up there was my Mom, Dad, and Brother. All my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins lived very close so we got together a lot for holidays and other times.

I moved to the Cities when I got married. I have 2 children. My son, Todd, is married to Mandy and they have 2 little girls, Isabella age 7 and Alexia age 3. My daughter, Tena, is married to Chad and they have 2 dogs and a cat. I have a little dog named Reggie who keeps me company.

Pastor Ed introduced me to the idea of helping with the preschool and being in the Adopt a Grandparent program through Lutheran Social Services. That is how I became Grandma Sharon.

I enjoy doing quilting, crocheting, knitting, and other handwork. In the summer I enjoy being outside watching my granddaughter play softball and soccer, sitting in the garden at my apartment building, and going to the beach. But the most fun I have is being with the Little Angel Preschool and helping them grow and learn.
